Persuasive Writing
My students are learning about persuasive writing. They need to be prepared for the 8th grade writing assessment. They will be prompted to write either an expository or persuasive essay. Wow, what a great site to use with your students. I visited the link for Langston Hughes and there is a recording of his voice telling the story of how he wrote the poem " The Negro Speaks of Rivers". He wrote it just after finishing high school as he was traveling by train and it is amazing to think of his insight at such a young age.
