Why Teach Grammar

Students are always asking, "Why do I have to learn this?" My favorite is when they say, "No one is ever going to walk up to me and say, 'what is the subject in this sentence?'" As a starting point, I will direct them to this site so they may see some real examples of why grammar instruction is important.

A great site and I couldn't agree more about the liberal media. Where I agree the most with the authors of the article is in this passage, "It does seem they would encourage public education to do a great job of teaching children how to read because if the public won't read then they certainly won't buy newspapers". I especially liked the question asked "Are the media now surprised when readers and revenues decline? If the owners of the newspapers had good sense, they’d be kicking educators in the butt, because a poorly educated public won't read the newspapers".
