Image Grammar

Get your students' creative juices flowing by showing them images on this site. Images include characters and setting. Try using one as a quick journal write.

I like the idea of using images as an alternative to a written journal prompt. Students would like the change of pace and they could be pretty creative with these photos. I have been using images for students to visually find parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives). Now I won’t have to make another photo PowerPoint, I can simply use these!

Amy, I'm a big fan of photography too and the idea of using photographs to imply an entire story is excellent. I'l share this site and the idea with LA teachers (a good use for the LCD projectors, once again). Somewhere I read that a good photograph tells an entire story in a glance and this is such an example. Thanks, RobertW
